If you're reading this, you probably already use Diamond Scheduler, or you've tried it. It's a solid product with a long track record, and it's worth being clear about where it's strong before getting into where Big Sports is different.
What Diamond Scheduler does well
Diamond Scheduler has been around since 1998, and it shows. The people who built it understand league scheduling, the product covers the common formats, and the pricing is clear and fair: $19.99, $24.99, or $49.99 a month on an annual plan. If you run one division, build the schedule once in August, and send out a PDF, it may well be all you need.
Where the two differ
Where the heavy lifting happens. On Diamond Scheduler, the advanced scheduling engine and explicit coach-conflict handling come with the Elite plan's desktop app. Big Sports runs entirely in the browser on every plan, so you can open the schedule on any laptop or phone.
What happens after August. Most of a league director's work happens after the schedule is published. In Big Sports, a rained-out game gets postponed and you pick from up to three make-up slots that fit your rules, while the rest of the season stays where it was. When you drag a game by hand, the grid shows you whether the new slot causes a conflict before you drop it. If you need a bigger reshuffle, you can regenerate the unlocked games and review the result before you keep it.
A record of what changed. Every change in Big Sports, whether you dragged a game, accepted a re-plan, or added a rule, is saved as its own step with a name and a time on it. You can undo your own changes, and the history answers "what did we agree on Tuesday?" without a separate document.
Writing rules. In Big Sports you can pick a rule from a list, or describe it in plain English and let Smart rules build it (on Plus). Before you accept it, it shows you which of your actual games it would flag.
Pricing
Big Sports Plus is $79/mo or $790/yr (two months free on the annual), which is more than any Diamond Scheduler plan. It covers unlimited teams, venues and surfaces, every rule type, Smart rules, and public pages in your own colors with no watermark. What you're paying for is the part of the season after the schedule is built.
There's also a Free plan: one division, up to ten teams a season, two venues, and a watermark on your public schedule page. Plus runs one division per season. Running several? Talk to us.
